Lawn Aeration and Overseeding in Central Ohio -- When and Why It Works

Aeration and overseeding are the most effective fall lawn care practices available to Central Ohio homeowners. Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil from the lawn, relieving compaction and allowing water, air, and nutrients to reach the root zone. Overseeding fills in thin and bare spots with new grass seed while the existing turf is still actively growing.
The best time to aerate and overseed in Ohio is September through mid-October. Soil temperatures are still warm enough for seed germination, but air temperatures have cooled enough to reduce stress on new seedlings.
Lawn Harmony provides aeration and overseeding services across all five counties we serve. We use commercial-grade core aerators and premium seed blends selected specifically for Central Ohio growing conditions.
